Hey all, long time no see!
I'm making the hard choice to start unwinding this site and shutting it down. When I started this site, I wanted to create a safer environment to talk and interact than we had. But a safe environment has to be tended to and I have not been tending to this place like I should have. To make things worse, I built this place when I was 20 years old and it is a technological Frankenstein's monster. Just keeping everything running needs a level of attention that I can't give at this point in my life.
So, I'm not sure how many people will ever read this (the email system's one of many that's toppled over), but I plan to shut down Heart2Heart fully by the end of April 2024.
For anyone who needs it, I've made one last change to the site. There is now a download button in the Manage My Files page, it will let you (and only you) download any file you've uploaded.
Like I said in my first post on here, normally I drop large projects like this in like a week. That we made it 7 years is thanks to all of you that kept me inspired by your passion and creativity. Genuinely, thank you.

Aw that’s so sad to hear! I’m glad I was able to join and explore this place before it ends, even if it’s been a brief time. (Despite having not posted much, I’m a chronic lurker 😅) Very impressive this place has been going for so long, here’s to new opportunities that pull the heartstrings in new directions!

Would be good to download conversations in private messages?
Not a bad idea, but I think I'll shy away from allowing mass-downloading of private messages. I know it's inconvenient, but I think many people wouldn't expect their messages to leave the site and I don't want to break that expectation.

Well, one could argue that, using the metaphor of old school paper mail, once the message is delivered to the recipient, it up to them to keep it or burn it. It's not up to the post office to break into their house and confiscate the messages. That the delivered messages are still physically kept at the post office is immaterial.
But oh well. Copy-paste it is...
Thanks anyway. And pity that the site did not gain more traction.

It's a shame to see this website going away after seven years, I'll never forget this website.

Can anyone take over managing this site in your stead?

<o thanks for keeping the site up for as long as you could, chira! it was fun being around while it lasted. i really wished this place became a biit more active, because i definitely would've preferred being around here more often than hbp... i'll be missing it a lot!
